She spoke
not a word
But an entire
world,
an entire
history
rose from
her face,
the slow
lowering of eyelid –
the covering up
of the sores
these eyes
keep seeing –
yet another
slight blow –
more of
the same
come
in the seemingly
endless
dread of life

I feel silence, pain, shame. This one tugs at my heart.
She spoke
not a word
But an entire
world,
Wonderful poem.
Oh, these words are so descriptive and poignant. Nice work!
Sobering reminder, well written, good take on the prompt.
