Somewhere

Somewhere
there’s got to be an end to it,
this Allah says
and this Jehovah says
and this scripture says
and therefore I am right
and you are wrong
and I eat the right things
and you eat the wrong things
and I wear the right things
and you wear the wrong things
and therefore I am better
than you are
and therefore I have a right
to attack you, kill you
or take away your land

Every stone you throw,
every shot you fire,
every injustice you do
will most likely be answered
by a stone, a shot,
an injustice

We sit in the same boat,
we have a common cause,
and it is not
to throw stones,
shoot at each other
and commit injustice
in the name of
whatever deity quoted
to justify the evil
of stones thrown,
people killed and
injustice done

Somewhere
there’s got to be an end to it

We all have to put an end to it
